Reach a healthy weight. Improve obesity-related chronic conditions like blood pressure and sleep apnea. Resolve Type II Diabetes (in approximately 80% of patients). Reduce high cholesterol, the risk of developing cancer. Develop healthy lifestyle habits to last a lifetime. Live your healthiest life.
Choosing to undergo weight loss surgery is not an overnight decision. Most of our patients have spent years trying to lose weight or have been unsuccessful in sustaining weight loss. Moreover, it’s not uncommon for our patients to struggle with obesity-related chronic illnesses and the high cost of medication.
Obesity is a complex metabolic illness, and the complications of obesity go beyond physical problems. Many of our patients have experienced weight bias and stigmas at school, at the workplace, in their relationships, in their healthcare services, and in the media. Our Hollywood, Florida, Weight Loss Clinic specializes in medical solutions for weight loss. With over 20 years of combined experience, we work with patients from Hollywood, Miami, and all over South Florida with the goal of helping them achieve meaningful weight loss.
For over 40 years, the gastric bypass medical weight loss procedure has been used to treat obesity and continues to be one of the most popular bariatric surgery options. During the gastric bypass your surgeon will cut across the top of your stomach, creating a small pouch about the size of a walnut. Eventually, this pouch will hold up to one cup of food. (The average stomach can hold four to six cups of food.) This pouch is attached directly to the small intestine, bypassing three to five feet of the intestine.
The Roux-en-Y gastric bypass has positive results. Typically, obese patients lose 50 – 75% of their excess weight and Type II Diabetes is resolved in 80% of all cases.
As with all medical weight loss procedures, long-term success depends on lifestyle and diet changes.
